Job Title: Housing Assistant
Responsible to: Project Manager
Purpose of the Post
To work as part of a team providing information, support, advice and temporary accommodation to single homeless people.
To take part in a shift rota in order to provide staff cover during the evenings, at weekends, and bank holidays.
To deal sensitively but firmly with any incidents within the scheme, and to assist in ensuring that Tenant conform to the occupancy agreement and house rules.
To offer basic advice to service users as appropriate, under the direction of the Services Manager.
To assist in ensuring that the building, furniture, fittings and equipment is maintained to a high standard, reporting any defects and ensuring Health and Safety procedures are carried out. This may include among other tasks, preparing rooms for re-let, laundry, and other domestic duties.
To work with Housing Support workers to interview and induct referrals into the scheme, following set guidance and procedures.
Deal with incoming post and associated procedures. Assist in the receipt and recording of weekly charges.
To assist in ensuring that the Project’s administrative procedures are followed, including the recording of information.
Promote and assist in Service User Involvement activities.
To take part in a rota system of shift duties, to ensure that service delivery is maintained in a consistent way, in the evenings, at night, at weekends and on bank holidays.
